To help you familiarize yourself with the hemp plant and the world of hemp wholesale, here are some common questions we come across.

How Do I Get a Merchant Processor for My Website?

Until the FDA takes a stance on hemp and CBD, the banking industry will continue to lag in this area and therefore merchant processing is likely the biggest challenge many CBD merchants will face when starting out. Yes, hemp and CBD are legal on the federal level, but when it comes to merchant processing you will still be considered a “high-risk” product. As a result, high-risk processors are the most reliable merchant processor services for hemp companies at this time.

For additional information on the status of merchant processing for hemp and CBD, check out our article, “Which Merchant Processors Allow You to Sell CBD.

Can I sell your products on Third-Party Websites?

CBD is a restricted product on Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and many other third-party sites. They all seem to have their own rules pertaining to CBD, even if they allow it. Please contact them directly before selling any product on their platform. If you are able to get on one of these platforms and would like us to help create a white label product for you to sell on there, contact us today and we’ll get you started.

What is Hemp?

Hemp is a plant in the cannabaceae family and is closely related to plants like cannabis and the hop plant. In the United States, hemp typically is used to refer to industrial hemp, which encompasses any variant of the hemp plant that contains less than 0.3% THC. Hemp contains several compounds, known as cannabinoids, which interact with the human body’s endocannabinoid system to produce a variety of beneficial effects. Is Selling CBD Legal in the United States?

Yes! It is legal to sell CBD products within the United States provided they meet basic federal criteria. The main thing to keep in mind is that all CBD products must contain no more than 0.3% THC in order to be sold legally with the United States. Certain states may have more relaxed or stricter laws regarding the sale of CBD and other hemp goods. For more information regarding the legality of hemp in each state, check out our page detailing the state laws and regulations surrounding CBD.

Is CBD Different from THC?

CBD and THC are very different from one another, though they share the similarity of being cannabinoids. This simply means that they are both derived from the hemp plant and interact with the human body’s endocannabinoid system. Aside from that, they differ in several notable ways. The most important difference is that THC is psychoactive, and is not legal in most states. CBD is non-psychoactive, and is legal for sale in a majority of states and at the federal level.

Is Hemp Different from Marijuana?

Hemp and marijuana are a part of the same plant family, but hemp refers to industrial hemp with no more than 0.3% THC, while marijuana (also known as cannabis) contains a higher THC percentage. It is legal to sell hemp products in most states and territories of the United States, but cannabis/marijuana remains illegal to produce in many states, though some have decriminalized and legalized the plant. At US Hemp Wholesale, we exclusively sell hemp-derived products that do not have any psychoactive effects.
